Underground
Underground is a 1995 comedy-drama directed by Emir Kusturica, who also directed When Father Was Away On Business. The movie is a three-part epic that follows two friends, Blacky and Marko, from the beginning of World War II to the beginning of the Yugoslav Wars. During the Nazi occupation of Belgrade, Marko hides Blacky and other resistance fighters in a cellar underneath his house. After the war ends, Marko tricks the underground dwellers into believing the war has continued and exploits their labor. Underground won the Palme d'Or at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival.
